r = −0.04Battery use vs tyre wear

01

Does the battery cost tyres?

Silverstone 2026. The belief: push hard on the straights, pay later in the tyres.

02

Nobody can see the battery.

F1 publishes speed and throttle, not charge. So I read it from its footprints.

03

76% of runs stalled.

Flat out, yet no faster: the battery had run dry. 4.1 seconds on the pit straight.

04

90 stints, one test.

If deployment cost tyres, the dots would climb to the right.

05

r = −0.04.

No relationship. The belief does not survive the data.

06

The trap.

Sprint: r = −0.55. Race: r = +0.21. Small samples, opposite stories.

07

It decided speed, not tyres.

Gain over the teammate, same car, end of the straights.

09

What I take from it.

Energy is about driving and setup. Next: other circuits. Battery figures are inferred, not measured.
